Mary-Taylor Land


Mary-Taylor Land, the Director of the Wake Forest Academy of Fine Arts has been affiliated with several artistic programs and schools as a student, consultant, judge, and teacher. She brings to the judge's table a culmination of all of her positive dance experiences. Mary-Taylor has trained both as a student, performer, professional, educator, and judge. She obtained a dual degree from Lees McRae College in Dance and English.

Mary-Taylor's performance experience includes: Atlanta Ballet, Dance Arts Theatre, Miami City Ballet, Highlanders, North Carolina Symphony, X-Factor and Carolina Ballet. She has studied under Robert Weiss, Hillary Yachovetti, Valerie Midget, Chuck Davis, Cheryl Tipton, and David Howard to name a few. Mary-Taylor has judged for many dance competitions such as Fabulous Talent, Applause, Headliners, and Talent on Parade.

Mary-Taylor is highly focused on Dance and Creative Arts Education with over 25 years of Dance and Performance experience. Mary-Taylor believes that it is not enough to be a talented athlete and performer, but also to be a qualified teacher and advocate for Dance and Fine Arts. In addition, Mary-Taylor has studied the academic, theoretic, technical, and anatomical aspects of dance. She has spoken and taught at several medical and Dance Conventions.

Mary-Taylor has performed in numerous ensembles, competitions, and musicals. She has served as a judge, consultant, teacher, and choreographer in all aspects of the Performing Arts world-locally state wide and nationally. Mary-Taylor has owned and operated the Wake Forest Academy of Fine Arts for the past 14 years.
